Rosie White
Wellington public library, public hospital and district court
19-21 June 2018
Rosie White will be joined by three different groups to participate in an act of gentle craftivisim. Midwives, victims of slavery and teachers (on consecutive days in June) will be invited to share their stories by embroidering a statement onto a banner, heart or bird to represent their plight. The completed works will then be delivered to a person who has the influence to bring about a change for them.
This project provides an invitation to the public to come into a space designed for 'making'. They are invited to craft something using the materials at hand into a handmade objects - hearts, birds or banners. They will then be encouraged to embroider some words onto it (e.g. a poem or something they are passionate about).
This project is also being supported by Urban Dream Brokerage’s 2018 peer to peer mentoring programme with Rosie working with Jo Randerson. More information here.
