A Vision for Wellington’s Urban Landscape
This project brings light and life back to forgotten art, structures, and landscapes around Wellington’s urban heart. By harnessing the beauty of electronic media and projection art, the structures around our central city will be transformed into living canvases that captivate the public and celebrate our unique urban environment.
The beauty of this project is in its simplicity, using a combination of projectors and custom software to bring life and energy to Wellington’s cityscape. These projections will transform ordinary surfaces and structures into interactive, colorful artworks. Unfolding quietly and organically—people may stumble upon the installations by surprise or actively seek them out, making it an exciting experience for all.
Various local artists will be invited to collaborate, allowing them to learn how to “paint with light”, this will help foster a sense of community and encourage creativity in new forms.
Aa temporary, beautiful transformation of our city’s structures, the goal is to use technology and light to uplift, inspire, and celebrate Wellington in a way that’s fresh and exciting, without harming the city’s physical landscape.
“Wellington is a city full of creativity and potential, yet some of its most beautiful urban features often go unnoticed. Through this project, I hope to reignite a sense of wonder and excitement, inviting residents and visitors to rediscover their city and see it through a new lens. It’s about creating moments of magic and joy that make Wellington an even more vibrant and welcoming place to live and explore.” - Cubeman
